Brand ambassador programs

You don’t need to hire an Olympic athlete or A-list actor to promote your products. On the contrary, the best people to represent your brand are more accessible than you think. They are your current customers!

When you invite your most loyal customers to be brand ambassadors, you harness their collective influence, energy and community in a powerful way.

If you’re unfamiliar with brand ambassadors, it’s time to learn! Ambassadors expose your company to new customers, increase awareness and drive sales. In exchange, ambassadors get cash, points, products, or, at the very least, marketing experience that looks great on a resume. If you manage your program well (ideally with a streamlined management platform), it’s a mutually fun and fulfilling relationship for both the brand and the ambassadors.

Below are five brand ambassador programs that show the diversity of what they can look like and the types of goals they can help you accomplish. No matter what industry you’re in — apparel, wellness, food and beverage — these examples provide unique ideas on how to leverage brand ambassadors yourself. And, when you’re ready to launch or upgrade a program of your own, you know where to find us!

1. Live Love Spa

Hot stone massage

About

Based in California, Live Love Spa promotes self-care. It hosts regular events across the United States, curating spa, skincare, body care and wellness products and resources.

Live Love Spa Ambassador Strategy

Live Love Spa’s ambassador program attracts spa professionals who want to top up their income and earn up to 20% commission on beauty products they sell. Ambassadors recommend products to their customers, clients, or social media followers and generate an additional income stream.

Unsurprisingly, Live Love Spa expects ambassadors to be professional and passionate about sharing health and wellness within their communities:

“Whether it’s mindfulness, beauty, wellness or fitness, you have enthusiasm, knowledge or insight to share and want to make a positive impact,” says the organization

Every week, the program pays ambassadors commission for referred purchases via PayPal. Ambassadors can track sales, payouts, and commissions through an online portal. Making it as easy as possible for ambassadors to make sales, Live Love Spa offers 24-hour order processing, free shipping, and a gift with consumer purchases.

About

Many brands have reps on college campuses. Flipping the script, this university has its own brand ambassador program! The University of Wyoming Wellness Center promotes health and wellness education on campus. This entails weekly educational programs and workshops, health education and outreach programs and internship and employment opportunities at local healthcare institutions. We love that most of these services are free for students.

University of Wyoming Wellness Center Ambassador Strategy

The Wellness Ambassadors Program provides support, training and other learning opportunities to UW students who want to become leaders in health promotion on campus. Undergraduate and graduate students can enroll in the program and gain leadership experience for future healthcare roles.

Ambassadors engage with UW students and provide resources for:

  1. Academic impact on health
  2. Mental health
  3. General health
  4. Physical activity and fitness
  5. Nutrition
  6. Sexual health
  7. Safety
  8. Tobacco use
  9. Occupational and financial wellness

Ambassadors provide students with wellness-based education based on data from the National College Health Assessment and Healthy Campus 2020 objectives.

Unlike some brand ambassador programs, those who enroll in the Wellness Ambassadors Program don’t receive financial compensation. However, students receive a certificate of participation, a letter of recommendation at the end of the academic year and attend the Wellness Awards Banquet.

Ambassadors must have a 2.8 GPA or above, commit a minimum of four hours a month to the program, be interested in health and wellness and meet other requirements.

“Are you interested in promoting health and wellness at the University of Wyoming? Do you want to gain leadership experience that you can apply to your future career? Do you want to meet people and have fun?” says the Wellness Center. “If yes, then consider applying for the Wellness Ambassadors Program!”

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide health education resources to UW students
  • Promote Wellness Center services and programs
  • Organize health awareness events on campus and in the local community
  • Carry out health screenings
  • Take part in advisory boards and health coalitions

Product lines include Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Max 7 Up, Doritos, Cheetos, Quaker Foods and Starbucks’ ready-to-drink beverages.

The University of the District of Columbia (UDC) is a university in Washington, D.C., established in 1851. It is the only public university in the city and welcomes around 3,400 undergraduate students a year.

PepsiCo entered a partnership with UDC to promote its range of food and beverage products on campus.

Pepsi/UDC Ambassador Strategy

Every year, the UDC Pepsi Student Brand Ambassador Program requires two new ambassadors to promote the UDC/Pepsi partnership on campus and support college events sponsored by PepsiCo. Ambassadors report to the Office of Auxiliary Enterprises (OAE) and work alongside the university’s marketing department.

Brand ambassadors will:

  • Promote various PepsiCo products
  • Host nine events a year that increase brand awareness for the company
  • Partner with athletics teams on special promotions
  • Hand out PepsiCo products at events

Those who enroll in the program will document these experiences on social media and post recaps and images after promotional events. Ambassadors will need to dedicate around two to eight hours a week to the program for eight weeks.

Successful ambassadors will receive an undisclosed stipend and several PepsiCo products to sample. To qualify for the program, applicants must be studying a program at UDC for at least six hours a week and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

“Are you an active student and know your college campus like the back of your hand? Where the hotspots are? What the biggest clubs are? What about Greek Life?” says the program’s organizers. “If so, you may be the perfect PepsiCo student brand ambassador.”

4. Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery

Cheese

About

Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery is a Wisconsin-based cheese producer. Established in 1910, the company ships its products across the U.S., and Ellsworth Cheese Curds are available in grocery stores in the Midwest.

Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery Ambassador Strategy

Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery’s brand ambassadors sample new cheese flavors manufactured by the company and share their experiences on social media. The current ambassador program focuses on one cheese curd flavor and three block cheese flavors.

Ambassadors must have a love for cheese and understand the brand values of Ellsworth Cooperative Creamy. In addition, they should be active on social media and post product reviews on social media

After selecting ambassadors, Ellsworth Cooperative Creamy sends out surveys. Then, ambassadors provide feedback about potential new cheese flavors and share valuable insights about products in development. They are rewarded with:

  • The opportunity to taste new cheese flavors before the company distributes them across the U.S

  • Access to a private ambassador group on Facebook

Different than many ambassador programs out there, this one actually has an entry fee. The Ellsworth Cooperative Creamery Ambassador Program costs $49, which covers the cost of shipping products. Those who enroll in this program must be over 18, live in the U.S., and be active on social media.
